युनाइटेड नेपाली डायस्पोरा अर्गनाइजेसन (UNDO International) ले विश्वप्रसिद्ध नेपाली पर्वतारोही निर्मल पुर्जा (निम्सदाइ) को असामयिक निधनप्रति गहिरो दुःख व्यक्त गर्दै उहाँलाई नेपालका महान् राष्ट्रिय विभूतिमध्ये एक, विश्व पर्वतारोहणका प्रतीक व्यक्तित्व तथा विश्वभर रहेका लाखौं नेपालीहरूको प्रेरणाका स्रोतका रूपमा सम्मान गरेको छ।
आइतबार जारी गरिएको प्रेस विज्ञप्तिमा UNDO International ले निर्मल पुर्जाको असाधारण जीवन, साहसिक योगदान तथा ऐतिहासिक उपलब्धिहरूप्रति उच्च सम्मान व्यक्त गर्दै उहाँको साहस, दृढ संकल्प र मातृभूमिप्रतिको अटल समर्पणले नेपालको अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय प्रतिष्ठा उचो बनाएको तथा सीमाभन्दा परका पुस्तापुस्तालाई प्रेरित गरेको उल्लेख गरेको छ।
“नेपाली डायस्पोराका एक महान् नायक। सदैव अमर रहने एक किंवदन्ती।” भन्ने भावसहित संस्थाले पृथ्वीका सर्वोच्च शिखरहरूमा नेपालको गौरव, पहिचान र राष्ट्रिय झण्डालाई गर्वका साथ पुर्याउने उहाँको जीवनभरको समर्पणप्रति श्रद्धाञ्जली अर्पण गरेको छ।
वि.सं. २०४० साउन ९ (जुलाई २५, १९८३) मा म्याग्दी जिल्लाको दाना गाउँमा जन्मिनुभएका निर्मल पुर्जाले बेलायती सेनाको ब्रिगेड अफ गोर्खाज तथा त्यसपछि विशिष्ट स्पेशल बोट सर्भिस (SBS) मा सेवा गर्दै आफ्नो क्षमता प्रमाणित गर्नुभएको थियो। त्यसपछि पर्वतारोहण क्षेत्रमा प्रवेश गरी उहाँले उच्च हिमाली आरोहणको इतिहासलाई नै नयाँ उचाइमा पुर्याउने ऐतिहासिक उपलब्धिहरू हासिल गर्नुभयो।
UNDO International ले विश्वभर प्रशंसित उहाँको केवल छ महिना र छ दिनमै विश्वका १४ वटै ८,००० मिटरभन्दा अग्ला हिमाल सफलतापूर्वक आरोहण गर्ने कीर्तिमानलाई विशेष रूपमा स्मरण गरेको छ। संस्थाले यस उपलब्धिले अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय समुदायको उच्च सम्मान प्राप्त गर्नुका साथै पर्वतारोहणमा सम्भवताको नयाँ परिभाषा स्थापित गरेको उल्लेख गरेको छ।
त्यसैगरी, ४८ घण्टाभित्र सगरमाथा, ल्होत्से र मकालु हिमाल आरोहण गर्ने पहिलो व्यक्ति तथा सन् २०२१ मा पूर्ण नेपाली टोलीको नेतृत्व गर्दै विश्वकै दोस्रो अग्लो हिमाल के–टु (K2) को पहिलो सफल शीतकालीन आरोहण सम्पन्न गराउने नेतृत्वकर्ता का रूपमा उहाँले नेपाली पर्वतारोहीहरूको अदम्य साहस, दृढता र विश्वस्तरीय क्षमतालाई विश्वसामु स्थापित गरेको UNDO ले जनाएको छ।
प्रेस विज्ञप्तिअनुसार पाकिस्तानस्थित ब्रड पिक हिमालमा आएको हिमपहिरोमा निर्मल पुर्जा तथा उहाँसँगै रहेका अन्य नौ जना पर्वतारोहीहरूको दुःखद निधन नेपालका लागि मात्र नभई विश्व पर्वतारोहण समुदाय र विश्वभर फैलिएको नेपाली डायस्पोराका लागि पनि अपूरणीय क्षति हो।
संस्थाले निर्मल पुर्जा केवल एक उत्कृष्ट पर्वतारोही मात्र नभई नेपालका विश्वव्यापी सद्भावदूत भएको उल्लेख गरेको छ। उहाँको जीवनले दृढ संकल्प, अनुशासन, विनम्रता र देशप्रेमले सीमाना र पुस्ताहरू नाघेर पनि मानव समाजलाई प्रेरित गर्न सक्ने सशक्त उदाहरण प्रस्तुत गरेको विज्ञप्तिमा उल्लेख छ। उहाँका उपलब्धिहरूले विश्वभर रहेका लाखौं नेपालीहरूमा गौरवको भावना जागृत गर्नुका साथै नेपालको अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय छविलाई अझ सुदृढ बनाएको पनि संस्थाको भनाइ छ।
UNDO International ले निर्मल पुर्जाको जीवन र विरासतले महानता केवल शिखरहरू आरोहण गर्नुमा सीमित नरही भावी पुस्ताका लागि आशा, प्रेरणा र एकताको अमूल्य विरासत छाड्नुमा निहित रहेको सन्देश दिएको उल्लेख गरेको छ।

Exclusive: The United Nepali Diaspora Organization (UNDO International) has expressed profound sorrow over the untimely passing of legendary Nepali mountaineer Nirmal Purja (Nimsdai), describing him as one of Nepal’s greatest national heroes, a global icon of mountaineering, and an enduring inspiration to millions of Nepalis living around the world.
In a press release issued on Sunday, UNDO International paid tribute to Purja’s extraordinary life and remarkable achievements, stating that his courage, determination, and unwavering patriotism elevated Nepal’s image on the global stage and inspired generations beyond borders.
“A Nepali Diaspora Hero. A Legend Forever,” the organization said, honoring Purja’s lifelong commitment to carrying Nepal’s pride, identity, and flag to the highest mountains on Earth.
Born on July 25, 1983, in Dana, Myagdi District, Nirmal Purja first earned distinction through his service with the British Army’s Brigade of Gurkhas and later the elite Special Boat Service (SBS). After transitioning into professional mountaineering, he achieved a series of historic milestones that transformed the history of high-altitude climbing.
UNDO highlighted Purja’s world-renowned accomplishment of climbing all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks in just six months and six days, a feat that drew international admiration and redefined what was considered humanly possible in mountaineering. The organization also recalled his achievement as the first person to summit Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu within 48 hours, as well as his leadership of the historic first winter ascent of K2 by an all-Nepali team in 2021, which showcased the extraordinary courage, resilience, and capability of Nepali climbers.
According to UNDO International, the tragic loss of Nirmal Purja and nine fellow climbers in the avalanche on Pakistan’s Broad Peak represents an immeasurable loss not only for Nepal but also for the global mountaineering community and the worldwide Nepali diaspora.
The organization stated that Purja was far more than an elite climber. He became a global ambassador of Nepal whose life demonstrated that determination, discipline, humility, and patriotism could inspire people across nations and generations. His achievements brought immense pride to millions of Nepalis living abroad while strengthening Nepal’s international reputation.
UNDO International further emphasized that Purja’s legacy serves as a reminder that true greatness is measured not only by the summits conquered but also by the hope, inspiration, and unity left behind for future generations.
