Call for Abstracts: US-Nepal Policy Research Center (US-NPRC) 2018 Conference
“Institutionalizing the Human Capital for Inclusive Development”
Innovation, technology, and human capital are some of the critical drivers for socioeconomic development. However, without appropriate institutions, knowledge and innovation-based economic development may not sustain. The US-Nepal Policy Research Center (US-NPRC) intends to explore the expert ideas on how knowledge, innovation, and institutions could strengthen inclusive socioeconomic development in Nepal. US-NPRC cordially invites all members, scholars, professionals, and institutions to attend and participate in its annual policy and development conference: “Institutionalizing the Human Capital for Inclusive Development.” The conference organizing committee also requests all to submit full-length or work-in-progress papers or abstracts or poster or proposals on the relevant topic. This conference is a continuation of the previous two conferences held by US-NPRC in Chicago (2016), and Virginia (2017).

Conference date: Saturday, August 25, 2018

Location: Courtyard Marriott Boston Logan Airport, 225 William McClellan Highway, Boston MA 02128 (The Courtyard Marriott at Boston Logan Airport will provide discounted group rates for the stay if the reservations are made 2 weeks before the conference date)

Conference topics:
Oral presentations or posters or proposals may include, but not limited to, the following topics of interest:

  • Policy options and needed reforms to improve the quality of life, create jobs, enhance institutions for economic opportunities, and inclusive growth in Nepal.
  • Science, technology (including biotechnology), innovation, and infrastructure to drive smart and inclusive growth.
  • The importance of organizations (actors, players), institutions (rules), and institutionalization of institutions (systems) for the smart and inclusive growth.
  • Education, environment, health, agriculture, energy, youth employment, and women empowerment for smart, and inclusive growth.
  • Social and business entrepreneurship to produce private and social values and enhance smart and inclusive economic growth.
  • Creative financing options (e.g., cooperatives, micro-finance, crowdfunding, foreign direct investment) to drive smart and inclusive economic growth.
  • Interdisciplinary research and data (big data or open data) for smart and inclusive growth.
  • The role of the diaspora in national development.
  • Other relevant topics are also welcome!

Submission deadline (full-length or work-in-progress papers or abstracts or poster or proposals):

The abstract submission deadline is August 12, 2018. We expect that the authors whose abstracts are accepted will confirm their participation by August 17, 2018, and submit a copy of their full paper or work-in-progress papers or abstracts by August 20, 2018.
