तेस्रो नेपाल अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय चलचित्र महोत्सव (3rd Nepal International Film Festival , NIFF ) फागुनको १ देखि ५ (Feb 13-17,2020) गतेसम्म काठमाडौंमा सञ्चालन हुने भएको छ । नेपाल चलचित्र तथा साँस्कृतिक प्रतिष्ठानको आयोजनामा हुँदै आएको महोत्सव काठमाडौंको राष्ट्रिय सभागृह तथा पर्यटन बोर्डको सभाकक्षमा ५ दिनसम्म सञ्चालन हुनेछ ।

नेपाली चलचित्रको रचनात्मक विकासको उद्देश्यसहित हुन लागेको महोत्सव अवधिभर ८० चलचित्र प्रदर्शन हुनेछन्। जसमा १० अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय कथानक चलचित्र, ३५ लघु चलचित्र, ५ नेपाली कथानक चलचित्र, १५ नेपाली लघु चलचित्र, ८ वृत्तचित्र र ६ एनिमेटेड फिल्म रहेका छन्। ५५ देशबाट प्राप्त ६ सयभन्दा बढी चलचित्रबाट उत्कृष्ट ८० चलचित्र छानिएको हो ।

विश्वका कथाहरूको कथ्य उत्सव’ नारासहित ‘हुन लागेको महोत्सवमा विगतमा कथानक चलचित्र मात्र प्रस्तुत गरिएकामो यो वर्ष एनिमेसन र वृत्तचित्रको विधा पनि थपिएको छ । महोत्सवमा कथानक चलचित्र, वृत्तचित्र तथा एनिमेटेड विधाका उत्कृष्ट चलचित्रलाई बेग्लाबेग्लै पुरस्कार प्रदान गरिनेछ ।

अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय प्रतिस्पर्धा अन्तर्गत सर्वाेत्कृष्ट कथानक फिल्मलाई १ हजार ५ सय अमेरिकी डलरसहित गौतम बुद्ध अवार्ड, सर्वोत्कृष्ट वृत्तचित्रलाई १ हजार डलरसहित माउन्ट एभरेस्ट अर्वाड, सर्वोत्कृष्ट एनिमेटेड चलचित्रलाई ७५० डलरसहित मञ्जुश्री अवार्ड, सर्वोत्कृष्ट लघु चलचित्रलाई ५ सय डलरसहित वाग्मती अर्वाड प्रदान गरिने छ।

फेस्टिभलमा प्रदर्शन हुनेमध्ये कथानक चलचित्रलाई बलिउड फिल्म निर्देशक प्रकाश झा नेतृत्वको निर्णायक मण्डलले मूल्यांकन गर्नेछ । यसमा गौरी मल्ल, मञ्जुकुमार श्रेष्ठ, पोर्जुगिज फिल्ममेकर जाओ पाओलो र सिंगापुरका फिल्ममेकर युनी हाडी सदस्य रहेनेछन् ।

वृत्तचित्र, लघु चलचित्र तथा एनिमेटेड चलचित्रतर्फको जुरीको नेतृत्व श्रीलंकन फिल्ममेकर अनोमा राजाकरुणाले गर्नेछिन भने उनलाई थिबाउट फ्रेक र करुण थापाले सघाउनेछन् ।

नेपाली प्रतिस्पर्धाअन्तर्गत उत्कृष्ट कथानक चलचित्रलाई १ लाख रुपैयाँसहितको पुरस्कार र उत्कृष्ट लघु चलचित्रलाई ४० हजार रुपैयाँसहितको पुरस्कार प्रदान गरिनेछ। कथानक चलचित्रतर्फका उत्कृष्ट निर्देशक, लेखक, छायाकार, अभिनेता र अभिनेत्रीलाई ट्रफी प्रदान गरिनेछ ।

महोत्सवमा फिल्म प्रदर्शनसँगै समानान्तर रुपमा विभिन्न विषयमा छलफल पनि सञ्चालन हुनेछन् । यस्ता छलफल अन्तर्गत राजेश हमाल आफ्नो अभिनय यात्राका बारेमा अनुभव सुनाउने भएका छन् ।

NIFF 2020: An Overview
Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF) is a 5-days’ event from 13-17 February 2020, which focuses on promoting and uplifting the national film and culture scene in Nepal through its various programs and activities.

Zack Stentz is a writer and producer of film and television, novelist, and teacher. He has co-written the films X-Men: First Class, Thor, Agent Cody Banks and many other films. Stentz’s most recent film is the science fiction adventure film Rim of the World, which he wrote and produced for Netflix with McG directing.
Locarno Open Doors Presentation
Thibaut Bracq, jury member and coordinator of Locarno Open Doors, Locarno Film Fest’s training and funding program for South Asian artists and filmmakers, will hold a small presentation session with Nepali filmmakers.

Life journey and storytelling by Rajesh Hamal, where he shares about his film journey, story of his struggles and successes.

Pane discussion to be conducted on:
Baasudev Retrospective
The panel will focus on the making of the film ‘Baasudev’, what it meant for the makers, and how it shaped the national film industry then.
Nepal as a filming destination
The panel will involve filmmakers active in the international production and co-production space, and will discuss how Nepal can be an excellent filming destination, and what can be done on various levels to bring this reality

 
NIFF Forum Specials
Filmmaking in an age of streaming (moderated by Kiran Bhakta Joshi)
Filmmaker Kiran Bhakta Joshi (Incessant Rain Studios) will be joined by producer Larry Kasanoff (True Lies, Terminator 2
Judgement Day, Mortal Kombat), writer/producer Zack Stentz (X-Men : First Class, Thor, Cody Banks), filmmaker Joylon Hoff (The Staging Post) and studio executive Damien de Froberville (Netflix, Paramount Pictures, Dreamworks) for the inside look at the journey of the cinematic experience. They will share their experiences in developing stories, packaging, financing and branding for both streaming and traditional distribution. They will discuss the opportunities and risks and how the digital media and entertainment sector is evolving. The discussion is designed to raise awareness to the Nepali filmmakers that there has never been a better time to create content for the international market.
Telling a local story to a global audience (moderated by Kiran Bhakta Joshi)
Featuring a string of Nepali and international filmmakers, this panel discuss the challenges of taking local content to the world. Nepal has a culture replete with interesting and colorful stories and yet it has not been easy to present these stories to the global audience. The filmmakers will share their experiences and their ideas to overcome the hurdles.

Zack Stentz is a writer and producer of film and television, novelist, and teacher.
He has co-written the films X-Men: First Class, Thor, Agent Cody Banks and many other films. Stentz’s most recent film is the science fiction adventure film Rim of the World, which he wrote and produced for Netflix with McG directing. Stentz also teaches screenwriting in the United States and in China. In this class, he will teach the tricks and techniques of writing American action movies.
